Destiny 2: raid and dungeon DPS fundamentals
Objective
Debuffs, buffs, surges and heavy weapons that decide damage phases.
5 steps · 3 min read
- 1
Stack one debuff and one buff. Debuffs (Tether, Tractor Cannon, Divinity, Weaken) increase damage taken; buffs (Well of Radiance, Bubble with Weapons of Light, Empowering Rifts) increase damage dealt. Debuffs from different sources don't stack with each other.
- 2
Match the surge. Check the raid or dungeon surge element in the Director and bring heavy weapons of that element.
- 3
Heavy picks shift with each sandbox update: rocket launchers with Explosive Light for burst, linear fusions for sustained precision damage, and exotic heavies when they're buffed. Check what's currently boosted before a raid.
- 4
Class roles: Warlock brings Well of Radiance; Titan brings a Ward of Dawn bubble or melee damage; Hunter brings Tether and Gyrfalcon's/Celestial supers. Agree before the encounter so nothing doubles up.
- 5
Do the mechanic first. A wipe costs more than a bad damage phase.
